I recently have been going through a season of trial, and it has lead me to thinking about why we even have trials in the first place, or why does God let us have trials? What are they for?
We all know James 1:2-4, but I think it’s more than that.
First, what can we know about trials?
Trials and Temptations are from The Devil
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. 14 But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.
So…if trials are from Satan, why would God allow them?
Endurance
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
James 1:2-4
I truly believe in the saying “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, and we see that in the Bible.
The Spiritual Battle
When we are tested, we can choose to either get closer to Jesus, or closer to Satan.
I think we often forget how important the spiritual battle is. Really, everything we do is either helping Satan or Yahweh in the heavenly battle.
So, do you want to be on the winning or losing side?
With this trial I have been going through, I have noticed that Satan really does know our weaknesses, and he knows where to hit us.
But remember, when you are going through trials, you get to make a choice. Who are you going to fight for?
I’m sorry for the really short post today, I’ve been in a bit of a slump recently :(
This was beautiful! Thank you for sharing; it’s something I’ve been thinking through today- feeling like God is wanting me to be more resilient by choosing to do hard things and to continue to praise Him in the midst of the challenges.
I hope and pray you find the quiet and strength you need in this season 💖
You may be in a slump, but you’re still a champ not a chump. And even though your soul feels heavy, your light has lightened the burdens of others. In your greatest need your heart still desires to higher and help others succeed. So, with all your miles of trials, thank you still for your smiles and for not giving up, but looking up and lifting up. You truly are a devoted disciple and divine daughter. Keep letting your light so shine!
