Preptober actually starts next week 😳…so I’ll be starting the Preptober flow schedule next week. Here’s the flow (each day is a Monday):
💡 Developing a Story Idea: Sept 23 (one week from today)
💁🏻♀️ Creating Unique Characters: Sept 30
📊 Constructing a Detailed Plot or Outline: Oct 7
🌎 Building a Strong World: Oct 14
👥 Growing Your Writing Community: Oct 21
⏱️ Finding and Managing Your Time: Oct 28
I got this schedule from NaNoWriMo’s website, but I will be changing most of the content.
Each post will include an article written by me, as well as outside resources. Subscribe to join the subscriber chat where you can be a part of the accountability thread!
Before I won NaNoWriMo for the first time (last year), my largest WIP was 7k words (not kidding). When I finished NaNoWriMo, I had a 52k word draft, and I was ecstatic! I highly recommend doing NaNoWriMo.

But I can’t write that much!
Yes, you totally can! I use the Most Dangerous Writing App, and with it I can write ~ 500 words in 15 minutes, and including breaks I can finish my goal word count in less than an hour.
I have no time to write!
Everyone has at least 1 hour in their day, no matter how busy. It’s helpful to find a time of day that works best for you, whether it’s morning, noon, afternoon, or night.
I have no story ideas/only a barely there idea!
Try using a plot generator browse the internet, or read a book/watch a movie for ideas.
You can do it!
Your Quest: identify a story idea or find an old WIP you want to revamp. Comment your WIP ideas below, I’d love to chat about your writing!
I'm planning to work on an ongoing novel WIP that has recently taken the backseat & that I'd like to get back into some focused work on. I've been putting off some important brainstorming all month that I need to do before I keep writing in earnest, so October will be the perfect time to prep! In April I did Camp Nanowrimo and wrote 10k words, so I'll probably attempt something similar in November.
Hello Eowyn,
My current idea is about a friendship that develops between two soldiers who are on opposite sides in a war between their kingdoms. After the war the older one takes the younger one under his wing and helps him navigate the post war intrigue. It's sort of a costume drama in the vein of stendhal but set in a fantasy world.
