I never watched the 1994 version, but the 2019 movie has been one of my favorites for a while. I just watched the 2018 modern rendition the other day, so it's funny that you posted about these two😂.

I always get so upset when Jo rejects Laurie! I understand that they are too similar and too headstrong for each other but, they were such great friends💔 and Laurie marrying Amy of all people just sent me over the edge when I first read the book🤣. Little Women was the first(and only) book I read that had me actually angry for a full 24 hours after finishing.

Aside from my frustration, it is still one of my favorite and most cherished books.

haha, same!! I definitely didn’t like it in the book when Laurie married Amy, but it was honestly nice in the movie. Since that’s what happened in real life I have to accept it 😂

This is very relatable 😂 my seven-year-old self sulked around the house for a week.

Hahah!!! How cute! And sad 😔

Actually, I've not seen either movie, but as a homeschooler, of course I read the books. The cracked-brain crazy part about it is that when I read about the professor, I thought he *was* that old so that the picture you shared actually mirrored what I read. Maybe it implies that somewhere?

Yes, I think he was older in the book, but...seeing it on screen was really weird, lol. So I appreciated him being younger (but not so young!) in the newer version.

I appreciate it also, even if I didn't watch either 😆 I thought he looked like Joel from For King and Country.

It was very sneaky of Alcott because I had no idea they would get married (especially after he accidentally called her short story trash 😲).

Have you read Jo's Boys or Little Men? I loved both of those too.

Haha, yes! I never realised that until now, haha.

Yeah, Alcott never married but she was forced to make Jo get married (bc she was the MC) because that was society at the time, so she thought it would be funny if she just invented a random guy and had Jo fall in love with him 😂. Crazy how society has changed!

Yes, I have read them both! But when I was very little so I don't remember them well. I have also watched the movies! Or maybe movie...I can't remember if Jo's Boys has a movie.

Oh wow. So interesting!

I too need a refresher on the books. Just like the Anne of Green Gables series (soo good).

Yes!! It's been so long 😥

This was a fun read, Eowyn!

I like both of them. 🫶🏻 I think the 1994 version will always be my favorite because its overall aesthetic fits the time period so well (I felt like the new one was a little too modern in music and scenery). It was also the one I grew up watching, and I love old films so the nostalgia of it makes me happy.

But I really like the cast of the 2019 version and how thoughtfully the scenes were woven together. It really gave the viewer a glimpse of each individual character’s struggles and triumphs rather than focusing solely on Jo. And I definitely agree with you on Amy’s character! She’s better in the modern version ☺️

Yes!! I totally agree with this! I liked the 1994 version best until very recently, so I can relate 😁

The 2019 movie went, "Historical accuracy? never heard of that." That's my biggest nitpick. It's even less historically accurate than Pride and Prejudice (2005). I could never watch 2019 because I'd be too busy going all Bernadette Banner (historical fashion YouTuber) with the costumes. I've never seen either, so when I'm watching, I'm going with 1994 so I don't lose my collective mind over NO BONNETS.

Haha!! I’m definitely not that person 🤣 I don’t know anything about that but I would love to learn!

2019 is my favorite too, though I still like the 1996 one for nostalgia reasons!

Mr. Baher is actually more accurate in the '96 one; in the book he's in his forties or fifties when he marries Jo. XD I know it feels weird now, but it was pretty common then.

Yeah….I guess 🤣
